What we do

Merantix Momentum is a Berlin-based AI startup focused on accelerating AI adoption across industries through B2B solutions and publicly funded research projects. A core pillar of our work is enabling digital transformation in the German public sector, alongside domains such as healthcare and manufacturing. We act as an external machine learning department, helping public institutions and enterprises unlock the value of data and AI.
Our approach combines state-of-the-art machine learning with rapid iteration and a deep understanding of regulatory, administrative, and operational frameworks—particularly within Germany’s federal and state-level public sector. We build scalable, production-ready solutions that align with compliance requirements, data protection standards, and real-world institutional constraints.

The Senior Solutions Architect role is a unique opportunity to shape the future of AI in the German public sector by bridging cutting-edge machine learning with real-world administrative and policy-driven challenges. You’ll design and deliver end-to-end AI solutions for public sector clients, act as a strategic advisor, and translate complex regulatory and operational needs into scalable systems. This role sits at the intersection of innovation, governance, and execution, driving digital transformation in one of the most impactful areas of society.

Your role

  • Design and deliver end-to-end AI solutions for public sector clients—architecting scalable, compliant, and production-ready data pipelines and AI systems tailored to administrative processes and public services
Develop high-level technical architectures aligned with public sector IT landscapes, ensuring integration with legacy systems and adherence to German and EU regulations (e.g. data protection and security standards)

  • Support pre-sales and public tender processes (Ausschreibungen) by evaluating AI use cases, contributing to proposals, and ensuring compliance with procurement requirements

  • Serve as a public sector domain expert in client engagements, understanding governance structures, federal/state dynamics, and administrative workflows to deliver measurable impact

  • Bridge strategy and execution by steering AI initiatives in collaboration with public stakeholders, aligning solutions with legal frameworks, funding structures, and operational realities

  • Collaborate with research and engineering teams, particularly in the context of publicly funded projects and partnerships with governmental or academic institutions

  • Drive thought leadership in AI for the public sector through engagement with policymakers, participation in public initiatives, and contribution to discussions around digital sovereignty and ethical AI

Your profile

You’re a confident, technically fluent professional who thrives at the intersection of public administration, AI/ML, and enterprise IT. You have hands-on experience working with or within the German public sector (e.g. ministries, agencies, municipalities, or publicly funded projects) and understand how to translate regulatory and operational challenges into impactful AI-driven solutions.
You combine domain expertise with strong communication skills and are comfortable navigating both technical and policy-driven discussions—whether with IT departments, administrative leadership, or external stakeholders.

You would be a great fit if you have:

  • A degree in Administrative Sciences (Verwaltungswissenschaften), Political Science, Law, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related field

  • Strong understanding of the German public sector landscape, including federal/state structures, procurement processes (Ausschreibungen), and regulatory frameworks (e.g. GDPR, BSI standards)

  • Experience working with or within public institutions, or delivering publicly funded projects (e.g. Förderprojekte)

  • Knowledge of data and cloud architectures, ideally with hands-on experience using platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP in regulated environments

  • Solid understanding of AI/ML fundamentals and production data systems

  • Experience designing solutions that integrate heterogeneous and legacy public sector data sources

  • Familiarity with process modeling and requirements engineering (e.g. BPMN, SIPOC, User Story Mapping), especially in administrative contexts

  • Strong consulting and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to navigate complex, multi-stakeholder environments

  • Fluency in both German and English
